Nice to meet you!Where shall I begin? I’m a lefty, born and raised on the Jersey Shore. Back in the '90s, I crossed the Delaware to attend King’s College, where I studied biology and met my husband. We got married right after I graduated and have lived in the Allentown area ever since.
My own breastfeeding journey began in 2004 when I induced lactation prior to adopting our first child. So yeah, I lactated first, then had a toddler, THEN got pregnant and birthed a newborn (and then another a few years later). I never had a postpartum experience where my only focus was the baby! As a professional, I work with many first-time parents, but I connect the most with those who are juggling the needs of their baby with a toddler or other kids. I also share a kinship with parents who want to nurse a baby they didn’t birth. (Our bodies are so amazing!) I’ve been an IBCLC since 2011 and have spent years volunteering as a La Leche League leader and as a board member of the Lehigh Valley Breastfeeding Coalition. I’ve lectured at lactation conferences and trained others to become breastfeeding counselors. No matter what stage of life I’m at, this is where my heart is. |
If you’re into personality typing, I’m an ISTJ (Myers-Briggs) and a 1w9 (Enneagram). What does this mean for you? For starters, this means I’m a huge fan of lists, office supplies, and the Oxford comma. It also assures you that I am a no-nonsense kind of person who trusts facts, logic, and evidence to support my practices. I'm a natural-born teacher with a calm, professional demeanor and a straightforward way of explaining things. You won’t be left wondering if I sugarcoated anything! During consults, I like to stay on task (as much as baby will let us) so I don’t waste anyone’s time. As a lifelong rule-follower, I adhere to the IBLCE's Code of Professional Conduct, the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes ("WHO Code"), and the CDC’s current guidelines for healthcare professionals.
I recharge by connecting with nature - weeding my garden, taking walks, and noticing all the tiny details of our world. I also enjoy the oddly-specific hobby of researching and sewing 18th century clothing. You can occasionally find me guiding tours at The George Taylor House in Catasauqua.
